The 50/50 was presented at the Pitchbrothers smackdown 2010.
Since the crash at the smackdown the heli has been sitting on the shelf - Until now.
I was given a chance to bring the 50/50 to 3DMasters for display at the Hyperion booth , and with a little luck Sebastian will fly the bastard. I have upgraded it with Vbar 5,0 Mikado rotorhead, new radiogear, new fueltanks, Edge blades and a new canopy, so this years 3DMasters should be great fun.
Here are some pictures of the new setup. (Press the picture to see them all)
The Krunder Aerospace 50/50 is composed of: 2 Knight 50 3D (or what's left of them). 2 Krunder Areospace / Høgsgaard 0,33L Slots fuel tanks with OMI fuel magnets. 2 Os 50 Hyper with Align Exhaust 1 Hyperion DS 20 GMD servo for throttle. 1 Multigov govenor. 3 Hyperion DS 20 TMD servos for swash. Hyperion LiFe 6,6V 3000mAh receiverpack. Spektrum Ar7000 Kasama tailrotor. Mikado 600 rotorhead and swashdriver. Mikado VBar 5.0 Edge 603mm FBL rotorblades. Edge 105mm tailblades. KA Gyro mount FBL edition. Fusuno canopy. Thundertiger Raptor 50 Main Shaft. PV-0451. FAQs Question: Why make a twin engine 50size heli? Answer: Why not? Question: How did you get the idea? Answer: I had 2 Knight 50 3D helis and 3 Hyper 50 engines - All outdated helistuff, that I wasn't able to sell. I asked myself should I buy a bigger engine, but suddenly I was very clear to me that I should mount 2 engines instead, and the 50/50 was born. Question: How long time did it take to make it? Answer: I spend the first 2 evenings with a metal shear and a drill, and had the 50/50 flying on the 3rd day. Question: How do you control 2 engines? Answer: The engines run on one govenor and one servo. Once the clutches are engaged the engines run the same rpm, so no need for 2 servos. Question: Isn't it hard on the clutch and the main gear? Answer: No each engine has its own clutch and pinion, so the force on the clutch and teeth are the same as on a single engine heli. Question: What is the weight of the heli? Answer: Aprox 4,7kg + fuel. Question: How much collective pitch? Answer: I was able to get 16° with the flybarless head. Question: When can I buy one? Answer: Soon - Sorry this was just for the fun - If you want one you have to build your own. Question: Do you have any problems? Answer: Ohh yes, to name a few. The tailbelt is weak, and must be inspected after each flight. The autorotation one-way was slipping, I gave it Green Locktite and expected it to lock up but it didn't. Now it doesn't slip, so green Locktite is Krunder Aerospace approved for Auto one-ways ;) |
